Health updates
Image by Getty Images via @daylifeHope everyone has enjoyed their weekend.
Well its been a hectic weekend for me, good news, my mother is home and resting comfortably after her wrist surgery, thanks for your thoughts and prayers, much appreciated.
We hired a home health aide to assist her with her personal grooming and cooking/cleaning duties, i'm very happy that i made the phone calls, piece of mind goes a long way. I set her up as best as I could the last two days.
Things in Metsville is shaping up to be interesting, another year, another injury overload. It was just announced that David Wright and Tim Byrdak are heading up to NY to be examined at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Wright will likely receive a ultrasound guided cortisone injection for his rib cage and Byrdak is having his right knee examined.
Take care all, have a great week

Role Reversal and Lessons Learned

Well I wish I had better news to report, but I find myself in the position of taking care of my mother after her fall on early Friday morning. She completely shattered her right wrist and had surgery this morning, while we realize that all things being fair, it could have been a lot worse, she and I are both terrified at the thought of her living alone.
I had reconstructive shoulder surgery back in 1987 and even though she was working full time, she set my meals up before she left so that all i had to do was remove saran wrap and eat; i really wish that i could return the favor but weekend warrior it will have to be for the time being since we live an hour and a half apart.
On to my Mets, again, I wish things looked better, Ike Davis is being treated for Valley Fever, scary indeed, he is in my thoughts and prayers, it does go to show that baseball is a game and a livelihood for these players but life is fragile and you have to put your health first and foremost.
Meanwhile, David Wright will miss at the very least the first two exhibition games of Spring Training with a strain in his rib cage. Most of the reason he is being held out is for precaution more than the pain itself, its the beginning of Spring Training, its a long season even if you are healthy. After the lessons learned the past few years, the Mets management is playing it safe and waiting for Wright to be pain free before resuming baseball activities.
Have a great week everyone, hope to have better news to report later this week, Lets Go Mets!!!

Weekend up in Lake Placid
Image via WikipediaHope everyone had a great weekend.
Well, my husband surprised me with an impromptu visit to the beautiful town of Lake Placid, NY, one of my favorite places on earth.
Brian was there in 1980 when the USA had the ultimate "Miracle on Ice" with the win that the hockey team had over Russia. Being in that rink and seeing all of the memorabilia takes you back to that time.
It snowed for much of the weekend, but the scenery was incredible, but the best part was the bonding time that we had without me being buried in schoolwork or the distraction of computers.
Yes, we both had our Ipod touches and I brought my Nook tablet, but it was a completely different experience than our typical vacations.
It does not matter if you are an athlete or not, being in Lake Placid is an incredible destination.

Spring is finally in the air!! NY has another sports celebrity in Jeremy Lin

Image by Getty Images via @daylifeHope everyone is having a great weekend and if you are like me and have tomorrow off as well, all the better.
Not that I profess to be a basketball fan, but what else can i say about Jeremy Lin? The Knicks and Rangers are both making NY sports life a better place on the heels of the NY Giants winning the Super Bowl two weeks ago.
Well, pitchers and catchers start the official start of Spring Training tomorrow, hence the title of today's post.
Baseball season is no doubt a marathon and not a sprint, much like football can be, but I can't help but to be excited for the Mets to officially start the 2012 season.
Lets go Knicks, bring us a championship!!

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day - Who's ready?
Valentine's day countdown (Photo credit: Julie K in Taiwan)Valentine's Day is without a doubt, the most romantic day of the year and I am looking forward to my lunch date with my husband tomorrow.
Normally on Tuesdays we do not see each other until I get home from school at 9pm, mainly because he normally spends his Tuesdays in Queens helping a friend with their business endeavors.
Mr Met and the equipment left Citi Field today for Port St Lucie, Florida so Spring Training is a week away, for pitchers and catchers anyway, the offseason went by much too slowly for my taste, can't wait for my boys of summer.
What do you have planned for your special day with your beloved? Please share if so inclined.
